Dementia Friendly Town

We have an elderly population in this valley and statistics tell us that a high proportion of elderly people will eventually suffer from dementia.
In other areas of the city, as well as the country, groups are working towards raising awareness of dementia by becoming dementia friendly towns.
Everyone is welcome to come to a meeting to discuss whether we think this would be a good idea here.
Date: Thursday, October 22nd.
Place: Inman Pavilion, Moorland Drive.
Time: 6.30
Any suggestions/ questions/ comments please ring Barbara on 2888394.

Elderly Person Conference in Stocksbridge

Funding from Hallam University is to be utilised for an afternoon meeting in order to consider all the services, voluntary and statutory, in the area and where the gaps are. There is to be a shift of funding from NHS to the Community to look at care. This is an opportunity to get together as a community to say what we want and need.

Rachel Dillon, Locality Manager, NHS Sheffield CCG (Clinical Commissioning Group), will speak about the changes, and there will be an opportunity for users/carers/ professionals/volunteers to look at what we already have and what we need.

Learning with SOAR

Did you know that SOAR provide a variety of courses including Personal care, Healthy eating, Early learning etc?
