The recent proposal that, on the 57 route, evening and Sunday journeys would operate between City and Oughtibridge only, with Supertram links service SL1 extended to Stocksbridge at these times, is to be implemented.
The Outcome from the consultation is:
'These changes will be implemented as per the consultation. It was appreciated that very few people use the evening and Sunday services beyond Oughtibridge, with the majority of passengers opting for the tram to Middlewood and the Supertram Link. So, evening and Sunday services on route 57 will operate City - Oughtibridge only after 20:00hrs Monday - Saturday and all day Sunday. Passengers would have to catch the Supertram Link service at these times. The Supertram Link service will operate via the present route as far as Hole House Lane, then turn left onto Manchester Road, then turn left again to serve Garden Village, operating via Park Drive, Sitwell Avenue, Moorland Drive, Wooley Road, Ridal Avenue, Park Drive. Buses will then continue to the Unsliven Bridge, terminal point via Manchester Road before returning to Middlewood directly along Manchester Road.
We plan to introduce the changes at the end of October.'
