From 22nd until 27th September the Hub on Manchester Road in Stocksbridge will be hosting the 'Stocksbridge Energy Future' exhibition. The aim of the event is to explore the potential for generating energy from renewable energy resources in the Stocksbridge area. The exhibition explores how renewable energy is currently used in the valley. It also explores how different technologies could be used to produce more energy locally. At the exhibition you can see a wonderful model of the valley made by the Sheffield University's architecture department. There is also a range of interesting posters on the current and possible uses of renewable energy in Stocksbridge. Some of the themes explored include harvesting heat from the mine network to heat houses and community buildings, burning locally grown biomass, using hydro power, and solar energy.
The exhibition will be open every day from 10am till 5pm, and from 10am till 1pm on Saturday. On Friday 26th at 7pm there will be a series of short talks by the residents of Stocksbridge and academics who have put this exhibition together.
