Performing Arts

Stocksbridge Works Amateur Dramatics Section (SWADS) was founded back in the early 1930’s. We mainly perform Farce and Comedy plays.
A great deal of work, time and laughter goes into producing a play and new members are always welcome. As well as actors and a director we need people to help with costumes, properties, lighting, sound effects, special effects, posters, programmes, make up, prompting, publicity, stage management, front of house, raffles, set construction and decoration.

SVBA was formed in 1999 and is an arts group open to anyone over 7 years of age.

Anyone is welcome to join this friendly group whatever their experience or ability . We have whole families as members and even three generations of some families.

We give people a wonderful opportunity to work with professionals in the art world.

Besides presenting an annual production we have run workshops in Art, Writing, Stage Fighting, Lighting, Costume Making.
