New family support project looking for volunteers

CSV (Community Service Volunteers) is recruiting volunteers in Sheffield for its new Volunteers Supporting Families (VSF) project.

Funded by the Department for Education, the Sheffield project is the first of seven new projects to open across the country and is run by Project Co-ordinator Rachael Eyton and Project Manager Terry Lowell.

CSV is looking for volunteers who can understand the difficulties faced by families and can provide friendship, advice and support. The project complements the work of social services. Volunteers make time to listen to families, and act as strong role models offering practical help and support in the family home and local community.

Volunteers will need to live in Sheffield and be able to commit to at least one home visit a week for a minimum of six months. It is a demanding role but CSV will provide training and support every step of the way.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like to find out more log on to www.csv.org.uk/volunteering/mentoring-befriending/child-protection or contact Rachael Eyton, Project Co-ordinator on 0114 273 4863 or email reyton@csv.org.uk
