English National Concessionary Travel Scheme (ENCTS) changes happen from to-day

South Yorkshire

From Monday 31 March 2014, the following changes will be applied to ENCTS travel in South Yorkshire:

  • Senior and Disabled ENCTS pass holders will no longer be able to travel for free on bus and tram before 0930 or after 2300 on weekdays.
  • Senior and Disabled ENCTS pass holders will no longer be able to travel for free on train services within South Yorkshire, and between South and West Yorkshire, at any time.
  • Discounted Railcard offers remain available from rail operators.
  • Senior and Disabled ENCTS pass holders can continue to travel on bus and trams for free between 0930 and 2300 on weekdays and at any time during the weekend and on Bank Holidays.
  • “With carer” passes will be maintained and can be used from 0930 to 2300 on weekdays and any time during the weekend and on Bank Holidays.
  • Child concessionary bus and tram fares will remain unchanged at 70p for single trips

The changes bring the ENCTS scheme in South Yorkshire in line with the rest of the country outside of London.
