Part of the M1 in Sheffield is to be closed overnight as maintenance work is carried out on the Tinsley Viaduct. Work on the two-tier bridge, which carries the M1 over the A631, will mean the closure of both carriageways at junction 34. The Highways Agency expects work to be completed by 14 March and warns of some delays. It believes that the work will reduce the need for future emergency repairs and lane closures.

The Inman Initiative
Since the 60’s, the Inman Pavilion on Moorland Drive, has been a much loved community hall and it still is but it’s showing its age a little now. It is structurally sound but leaks energy. It has plenty of space but it needs a little reorganisation to make it a bit more useful for the different groups. Now it has a committee of people representing all the groups using it and the aim is to make the Pavilion a flexible, energy-efficient building sustainable for the next 30 years or so!

More than 1,000 blood donors are still needed in Sheffield to take part in a medical research project.
In the UK, the current waiting period between blood donations is 12 weeks for men, and 16 weeks for women.
During the two-year study men will be asked to donate every eight, 10 or 12 weeks and women every 12, 14 or 16 weeks.
The study aims to find the best time period between donations, to allow people to give more regularly and increase the supply of blood.

Have you ever thought about learning how to play Racketball? Racketball is the UK’s fastest growing sport and is played on a squash court. In racketball players use a larger ball, which does not need warming up like in squash, and a shorter racket. The fact that the ball is bigger and more bouncy than a squash ball means that rallies last longer.
