Wortley Club & Institute Charity Beer Festival

During the first weekend in August, as part of 'Yorkshire Day' celebrations, members of Wortley Men’s Club & Institute organised their first Charity Beer Festival, raising money for the Yorkshire Air Ambulance and the Yorkshire Regiment Benevolent Fund. The event commenced Friday evening with 30 Yorkshire beers, 7 traditional ciders and 2 lagers available from an outside bar, along with food and live music in special marquees. Saturday was the family day featuring children’s entertainers, a Brass Band, morris dancing, ferret racing, roast beef and Yorkshire puddings, topped by live music from the back of a lorry.

The event was blessed with (mostly) lots of sun, hundreds of people attending.

The Club was Barnsley CAMRA Club of the Year 2012 and Autumn CAMRA pub of the Season 2012
